Cork furniture restoration is a family run business with over 40 years of experience in the area of antiques and furniture restoration. Now based in Glenville just fifteen minutes from Cork City, we are renowned for our high level of of expertise in this highly specialized art of workmanship. Using mainly traditional methods, handed down over generations, we are at the top of our field in what is often described as a dying art.
Its not unusual to employ up to six or more techniques in the renovation of a single item such as stripping, sanding, repair, woodcarving, veneering, inlay, marquetry, french polishing, gilding, waxing etc. We are also highly proficient in the area of re upholstery, always endeavoring to retain the original packing, horse hair, springing etc.
All of our antiques are sympathetically restored and we pride ourselves in our ability to renovate any item while retaining its original patina {prove of age} which ultimately determines the value of the antique item. We are not in the business of making new antiques but rather enhancing through our time tested methods, the beauty of what exists already.
